To Muslims, why do you follow the Qur'an so verbatim?

Jewish people have modernized their religion to fit the times that we live in so why haven't you? I don't know much about Islam but it seems that your lack of modernization is to the detriment of your faith. Christian and Jewish women are some of the most liberated women in the world so why is it that a religion that is said to be the continuation of the two oppresses its women so much? Hopefully there will be a Muslim here, especially a female Muslim, who can explain this to me.
