Should the U.S. Mint discontinue manufacturing the one cent piece?

The current cent is made mostly of zinc with a copper plating, and costs the government more than one cent to make. Most people won't stop to pick up a nickel, let alone a cent, if they spot one on the street. Its purchasing power is nil, but seems to have some "value" in that its existence deters retailers from rounding up prices arbitrarily in order to 'shortchange' the consumer and make extra profits. Who hasn't steered their car into a gas station that advertises fuel at a cent or two less than the one across the street? On a twenty gallon purchase, it isn't worth driving across town to save 40 cents while burning a dollar's worth of gas to get there. Maybe the Mint should resume making two or three cent pieces instead? What do you think?

Weaning a baby off a dummy?

I think you should let her keep it being as your moving her into her own room.We moved our little girl at 3 months & we couldn't have done it without a dummy. Yes she's almost 1 now & i can see weaning her from her dummy will be a problem when the time comes, but i never let her have one unless shes tired or we are travelling in the car. This way i limit how much she gets used to a dummy being in her chops. I know a few kids who only just stopped having a dummy at 4yrs old, i think for now only let her have one for nap & bed times.Hide it for the rest of the time.

How can a mother keep a child away from a US Marine who recently returned home from deployment?

Our son recently returned home from deployment overseas and his soon to be ex wife will not allow him to see his 9 month old daughter. When he left he had been married 6 months and his daughter was 2 months old. He thought he was happily married and couldn't wait to return to his wife and daughter. 5 months into his deployment he called his wife at home to be told by their roommate that she was having an affair and he also informed him she was not caring for their child properly. Had proof she was staying with the boyfriend 4-5 nights per week who has a felony for ault and 3 misdemeanors for selling of drugs and under the influence of drugs and alcohol. He was also sent pictures of her with their daughter showing the boyfriend and his wife drinking at a bar with the baby.As soon as it came out she moved out of their house they were sharing with her best friend and her fiance. My son had to continue to pay the rent since there was a lease on the home for a year. He also continues to pay on their car she drives and her insurance and the car is only in his name plus he pays on another car. Then the Marine Corps made him pay her $1100.00 a month after she lied and said she was homeless. She was never kicked out of the house he pays for she chose to leave with her mother who also does not have a home. Even after she received the money she did not try to find a secure place for the baby to live. We have her bank statement showing she blew the $1100.00 in 1 week on eating out and buying clothes at adult clothing stores. Only $97.00 on the baby. Every month since when he is made by the Marines to pay the money she blows it on crap. In the meantime he just recently returned from deployment and he is broke because he is paying on everything and she is having a hell of a time. Still with no secure home for the baby just living in different places and in cheap trucker motels.The worst part is though is she is denying him to see his daughter. He has done nothing wrong except leave to serve his country and this is what he comes back to. We as grandparents tried to get temporary guardianship until he is out of the Marines but it was denied even though we had a ton of evidence of neglect. They pretty much said the baby isn't abused physically so the mom can keep her. Our court system does not look out for the best interest of the child as they claim. I just can't believe our system where are our son's rights. Nobody seems to want to stand up for this young man who has done nothing wrong. The mom acts as if he left to go party. She tells him he is not bonded with the child and he can't see her. He left for service to our country and how is he supposed to bond with his child if she keeps her from him. He is devastated. We have an attorney and he is going for custody but the date isn't until next month. In the meantime everyone is telling him be patient. How is this right. That is his daughter too and he loves her with all his heart and just because his wife decided to be unfaithful he is being punished. Nice way to treat our serviceman who fight for our freedom. We think this was a plan she had from the beginning and we here this happens quite a bit to our military men. Any suggestions on what can be done would be appreciated because right now it looks like the good guy is getting the shaft and the bad guy is having a hay day. This is just not right! His wife does not feed or anything so there is no reason he can not have her, in fact she admitted in guardianship court that the 9 month old eats her table scraps off her plate she does not even eat baby food. What kind of a mother does this. You can see why our son and us as grandparents are so concerned. Please give suggestions. We need to protect our granddaughter and our son and we just do not know the proper way to go about doing this. We have the attorney but it just seems as if it is taking a lot of time and he has spent enough time without his daughter it is now time for him to see her.

Is it bad to be too childish?

I'm 14 years old and I find myself loving every single thing I still love when I was a child. I still collect Barbie dolls, except I don't open them, since I realize how valuable they are. I watch little kid movies from the 80s and 90s, because I love the thought that anything is absolutely possible. That there are knight in shining armor. That there are dreams to fight for. My parents thing I should learn to be more serious. Every time I do something wrong, they say "I'm 14 and I should know better." I collect all the Barbie movies and all of Don Bluth's movies, such as Xanadu, Thumbelina, and Anastasia. And everywhere I go, I see little children who are five years old. I think you are the only one that can truly answer your question. Sometimes it's hard to be honest with ourselves about things that are important to us in the light of feeling threatened that someone will take what we hold dear away. I, personally don't seeing the white race becoming extinct, but if by chance it would, then it would. I would look for, and be proud of whatever else has taken its place. Love has a way of knowing which path to take, right or wrong. Hopefully a wrong decision can be counteracted by better decisions and a spirit of working to make the future the best you can.

Cycling my new saltwater tank?

i have a 14 gallon reef tank right now and i am upgrading to a 60 gallon reef tank. right now i have 1 damsel and a couple of live rocks from my established tank. i have been having the tank running for a week now. i tested my water and ammonia 0 nitrite 0 and nitrate 0. i think my tank is not cycling. i think the reason why is because i only have one damsel in the tank. every week when i do water changes on my 14 gallon i am going to put the water i take out on the 60 gallon to put the bacteria in the tank. d you think that is a good idea? i really don't want to buy more damsels. and i heard putting a piece of shrimp is bad to cycle a tank because it is going to raise phosphate. i need advice on how should i cycle my tank

okay, I remember watching this movie when I was younger and my memory has become very pieced at best. I remember that it was set in Europe in the middle ages. The only plot facts I remember are that there was a vindictive woman who had two sons who were, for lack of a better word, "infatuated" with with a girl who rejected them. I remember from the dialogue that the mother was talking about this this to someone else and says "after my sons have had their honey this wasp shall die" or similar to this. A little while back, my mom went to go water her spider plant she hung outside, then she made the Discovery that a Red Finch had made a nest in the plant and laid eggs. I just recently got into knives, sharpening and such. I have a griptilian a very nice fixed ontario and a plithera of other very nice knives I came across. Its quicky becoming an addiction, not to mension I use them ont he job now all the time. I have heard many ways you can protect your knives but they dont seem to work very well. When I was younger i started seeing an older man. I realized it was stupid n tried to cut it off. He didn't accept it. He went crazy! After this I met a man my age and got pregnant. This momma needs some help!?

My daughter is 6 months old as well, and bedtime for her is sometimes a fight, but most of the time is a breeze. She goes to bed between 9:30-10:00 and sleeps until about 6:30-7:30. Before Bedtime we will Play for a while, sometimes its us crawling around on the floor, or her chasing the dog in the walker, anything to just wear her out, normally we play for about a good hour straight, if not longer, then its bath time, Peighton loves the bath, and it helps her sleep better so her baths are always long, i let her splash and play in the tub till she is ready to get out. Then i give her a bottle, a cereal bottle, its sits better on her stomach and she sleeps longer before her next feeding, for every ounce of formula i put 1 scoop of rice cereal, and some days i even add a little baby food in it, mainly fruit. We use a sound machine in her room and normally i have it on the Cricket sound, and always a fan. When she wakes up for her night feeding i never turn the light on. I always leave the light off to feed her at night. Good Luck!

ok i went to mexico 3 weeks ago, and i was surprised to see how diverse people are down there. there are white mexicans (spanish, german, french and irish) dark skin mexicans (mayans, aztecs) and light brown skin.. mexicans who are supposed to be a mix of different races. so i was wondering why do most people in the states think all mexicacans have dark skin?? and why is it that most mexicans who move to the states are the ones with dark skin? while the others dont come here?? why do we sterotype ?? if most mexicans dont have dark skin???

i've had a similar problem lately and i live in colorado. i have directv and set the recorder to record one tree hill every monday at 9pm. but sometimes it's gossip girl on at 9 even though on the tv it says its playing one tree hill. another time it was switching back and forth between one tree hill and tmz right in the middle of the show! i haven't had any problems with gossip girl or smallville though, but i watch smallville and supernatural on the same night, so idk if that has something to do with it. so basically, i sent an e-mail to the cw and they said "we're working on it, it was just a blip" but it's been going on for the past few weeks. i guess cw fans will just have to put up with it till it gets fixed, and if they don't fix it soon, i'm sure ratings and viewings will go way down.....sorry i couldn't really help, but i feel your pain!
